Dream: I am in a Mediterranean restaurant feeling excited about the chance to enjoy different flavors. My mother is there and she only wants to eat the things she knows. She does not want to eat here. I tell her I'm staying and order a dish that is unfamiliar to me which sounds delicious to me. Mom leaves.

My friend Pam is there now. We both enjoy ethnic restaurants as a nice break from typical Missouri foods. She and I enjoy the plate, which includes something that has beans, rice, fruit and spices. Neither of us recognizes the spice blend but we both enjoy it. I truly savor the flavors and textures and appreciate the unexpected but delicious tastes.

I become aware that I am dreaming and decide that on one level I am taking in and digesting new information and enjoying it. I also think that on a mundane level I am desiring some new flavors.

The interpretation is much like what I recognized when I realized I was dreaming. My mother literally is someone who does not care for unfamiliar tastes. She likes foods the same old way. In this dream, she represents me staying true to my desire and my plan to seek out new information and experiences.

My friend Pam is in reality as she appears in my dream. We both love to go to ethnic restaurants of all kinds and to try new foods.
