Updates from the GLOBAL LUCID DREAMING EXPERIMENT research staff

The Global Lucid Dreaming Experiment is a series of experiments designed to explore the reality of our dreams.

During this GLOBAL LUCID DREAMING EXPERIMENT tracking the moon’s effect on dreams, we are receiving dreams from around the world.  As participants send in their dreams on the appointed days, we will endeavor to post some of them, along with interpretations in the Universal Language of Mind, so we may have glimpses into the content of our dreams.

Dream Mythology
The Lunar Eclipse Dreams

by Dr. Barbara Condron, Project Director
Global Lucid Dreaming Experiments

Lunar eclipses historically generate interest in cultures worldwide  .  From the earliest times, man has looked up at the night time sky only to see the moon disappear before his eyes.  As early as 3000 B.C. the Sumerians1 made their moon god the chief diety, blaming him for lunar eclipses.  The Babylonians believed eclipses were caused by hungry monsters devouring the moon to satisfy their appetites while the Chinese believed eclipses occurred when a giant dragon devoured the sun.  Many of the early beliefs about this phenomena reflected the fears and anxieties that arise when comprehension and understanding are missing.

Five thousand years ago, the Chumash inhabited what is now the southern area of California in the United States.  The Chumash legends say there are three worlds.   One is the world we are familiar with, the one we accept.  Then there are two other worlds: the one above us and one below us.  There are two serpents that hold our world up from below.  When they are tired they move, and that causes earthquakes.  The World above is sustained by the great eagle.  He never moves, he is always in the same spot.  When he gets tired of sustaining the upper world, he stretches his wings a little, and this causes the phases of the moon.  When there is an eclipse of the moon, it is because his wings cover it completely.2

Such legends sound strange to modern ears since, generally speaking, humanity likes to reflect upon its progress from the primitive to the sophisticated.  What contributes to our progress is to view these legends and myths on their own merits.  As we appreciate them beyond the notion that they are stories to allay fears or to stimulate productive action within a group of people, we open our minds to greater possibilities which can move us beyond the limits of our own prejudices.

The KEY to the World's MYTHS & LEGENDS

For decades we, at the School of Metaphysics and College of Metaphysics, have been researching Mind.  This quest has taken us beyond the more familiar manifestations through the body and the five senses.  It has brought us into studying ourselves and others, now and in the past, so we might explore the realities of what British biophysicist C. Maxwell Cade pioneered in the 1970s as the awakened mind pattern. Cade measured the brain wave patterns of many healers, spiritual teachers and advanced meditators as well as 300 of his own students.  He found a pattern that he identified as a step beyond meditation that exhibits the "lucid awareness" of meditation "coexistent with thought processes".  The energetic activity that can be electrically measured through biofeedback proves the independence of mind from body at the same time it provides evidence of a mind/body connection.  The mind’s influence upon the body and the body’s influence upon the mind depend upon the direction give to the Mind by intelligence.

This intelligence we find manifesting itself in many ways.  At the forefront is through the avenue we call dreaming.  Dreaming is a consciousness phenomena shared by homo sapiens around the globe and over time and cultures.  The universal nature of dreaming lends itself easily as a viable subject for consciousness research.  What we have found is validation that as we investigate dreams we are researching a species, one specimen at a time.

We have also discovered the Rosetta Stone for dreaming, the key to the language employed by our dreams.  This Universal Language of Mind becomes a means for understanding the legends and myths of a culture as well as personal ones reflected in our individual dreams.

When interpreted in this language we find what seemed primitive to the rational, Conscious Mind now becomes the purveyor of ancient wisdom.  This non-physical, non-verbal language is one of function conveyed through images, thought-forms.  Most are recognizable as representations of the people, places, and things populating our daily lives.  Yet, these dream thought-forms are certainly not those people, places, and things.  In this way we learn, we can jump into a lake of volcanic lava and emerge unscathed or perform at Carnegie Hall before an appreciative audience or engage in passionate embrace with a long lost love.  We can view these dream thought-forms as holding no more significance to us than some kind of wish fulfillment, like the early interpretations of an eagle’s wings hiding the Moon.  And we can view them as gateways into inner worlds waiting to be experienced.

The Chumash Legend interpreted in the Dream Language

When interpreted in the Universal Language of Mind, the Chumash legend takes on great depth and clarity, applicable to human existence even unto today.

The Chumash legends say there are three worlds.
The three worlds can easily be a metaphor or image symbolizing the Mind’s three major divisions of consciousness:  Conscious Mind, Subconscious Mind, Superconscious Mind.  The worlds exist beyond the body and brain.  The worlds are the realm of mind existence – Thoughts, feelings, emotions, hopes, dreams, concepts capable of being conceived.

One is the world we are familiar with, the one we accept.
This world is the Conscious Mind, the waking part of our individual existence which works directly with the body/brain/senses to identify and establish who we are in this world.  In dreams, the Conscious Mind is represented by people of the same sex as the dreamer.

Then there are two other worlds: the one above us and one below us.
The world above us is the Superconscious Mind, the existence beyond content, revealed through developing the state of our consciousness.  This is why meditation is highly valued in every spiritual discipline practice.  Meditation cultivates the superconscious state of consciousness.  Superconscious Mind is the “Heaven on Earth” reality available to us all anytime, anywhere.   In our dreams it is portrayed through wiser, usually older, people who carry authority in our Conscious Mind existence.

The world below us is the Subconscious Mind, the older part of our consciousness that provides understanding in our lives through two means:  1) nurturing its predominance in our thinking through aiding in manifesting conscious desires, and 2) fostering insight in our thinking through providing intuitive realizations relative to our daily experiences.  Our dreams are the voice of Subconscious Mind giving its psi-feedback on the previous day’s experiences.

There are two serpents that hold our world up from below.
The two serpents symbolize the two energy channels that flow along the spine.  In yogic teachings these are known as the ida and pingala.  These two represent the moon and sun, respectively.  When balanced and working in concert with Sushumna, the central channel, they can produce great awakenings in individual consciousness symbolized by:

When they are tired they move, and that causes earthquakes.  The World above is sustained by the great eagle.  He never moves, he is always in the same spot.
The great eagle symbolizes the thought form of comprehension.  As the Superconscious Mind encompasses all, affording us omniscience, so this great bird of prey symbolizes the steadiness of of attention.

When he gets tired of sustaining the upper world, he stretches his wings a little, and this causes the phases of the moon.  When there is an eclipse of the moon, it is because his wings cover it completely.2
Superconscious Mind supplies the energy required for our everyday Conscious Mind to experience the manifestation of its desires.  The energy stimulates subconscious awareness symbolized by the moon.  When the “wings completely cover the moon”, a conscious desire is fulfilled.

Universal Messages

When we read myths in the Universal Language of Mind, the universality of their messages surface.  Joseph Campbell, the independent scholar well known for his many books and lectures on the power of myth, believed that important myths from around the world which have survived for thousands of years all share a fundamental structure.  Campbell called this the monomyth.

“In the monomyth, the hero starts in the ordinary world, and receives a call to enter an unusual world of strange powers and events. If the hero accepts the call to enter this strange world, the hero must face tasks and trials, and may have to face these trials alone, or may have assistance. At its most intense, the hero must survive a severe challenge, often with help earned along the journey. If the hero survives, the hero may achieve a great gift or "boon." The hero must then decide whether to return to the ordinary world with this boon. If the hero does decide to return, the hero often faces challenges on the return journey. If the hero is successful in returning, the boon or gift may be used to improve the world. The stories of Osiris, Prometheus, Moses, Buddha, and Christ, for example, follow this structure very closely.” 3

With his vast experience throughout the 20th century, Campbell developed a profound grasp of humanity.  He understood the striving of everyman as conveyed through cultural stories.  The strains of Truth, applicable to anyone, anytime, anywhere, surface because more of consciousness is being considered.  We move beyond the limits of our beliefs, looking for how form and function connect in all of life, we allow Self to experience the reality of the inner realms of existence.  We come to realize we are the hero and our nighttime dreams are personal myths, spoken in the oldest language known to our species – symbols.

Accepting the reality of the hero archetype in our existence is often difficult.  We tend to look at ourselves and fall short of what we see in others.  One dreamer sent the following addendum to his dreams of Feb. 20, 2008:

Note to dream study facilitators. I think these dreams are stupid, not the study, but my dreams. I have read about other dreams that have been recorded and sent to you and mine are just dumb.

The value of dream interpretation is comparative with Self’s previous experience.  Other’s dreams are valuable to us in similarity, for instance the meaning of my dream about taking a college test I had no awareness of and am not prepared for can give insight to you about a similar dream.  All dreams have content meaning and can shed light on our waking life.

Anyway, in the recording of what I had written I realized that writing about it doesn't convey the experience and it sounds very boring. I really was swinging from scene to scene and the events were tied together with a very thin line.  I don't know if the moon makes any difference in what I am dreaming, but they are not the same things over and over.

Here is this dreamer’s entry.  Its implication in the Universal Language of Mind follows.

A friend asked me to stand in his or her apartment while movers were removing his belongings. I stood in a square front room with the door in the middle and a window on each side. It felt like a low-income housing unit. The carpet was clean but very thin. My job was to tear off one of the flaps on the box and give it to someone to read off a number or color.

I wrote a check, I don't know why, but wrote it to the City of Columbia and asked them to turn it in for me.

Later I was walking down a street and a woman came up and asked if she could walk along with me. She was very tall and thin with short blonde or gray hair. I am short. Anyway, I was on my way to pick up some children for someone.  As we walked along we came across a huge shallow pool of water and beans, like pork and beans. It was rectangular like a fountain pool. She said, "Lets jump in it." I looked at her like she was crazy, but we got in and fell on our backs like one does when making snow angels. We got out and were wet, but not dirty. We walked through a department store for a shortcut. I remember walking between round displays of clothes and out the other side of the store. The street was layered like huge stairs, very shallow. We walked down the center, it was a sunny day.

We came to the home of two men, life partners, who were artists. They asked us to do something for them; I didn't feel like hanging around. I used their bathroom that was so narrow I had to wedge myself on to the toilet, which was almost under a hanging wall sink. I sat there and noticed that the room was very long and narrow and had another doorway.  It must have been twenty feet long with a living room area at the other end. Some people walked in down there and I shouted, "Excuse ME." because I was in the bathroom.

I went out where the men were having their party on a deck or patio. We weren't invited. One of the artists gave the woman a painting as a thank you for doing something to prepare for their party. I was insulted that I didn't get a painting. I looked at the wall and there were more...about five, lined up. At first I thought that they looked like the style of Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe picture, but on newsprint and not that good. I guess I didn't care after all.

I told them that if they were serious about remodeling their house they needed to use their space better in their bathroom.

I told the woman that I was going to go get the kids and go. We were wondering where to meet for lunch, but first I had to go get my car. (walk back to where I'd come from?)

I was in my car, turning into an intersection and a huge van, with a trailer of furniture, pulled right into my path on the wrong side of the street. It was full of hillbillies, like the ones in caricatures. They backed out of the intersection and almost into me. I had to back out. I said something rude to them and completed my turn. (I didn't go anywhere)

Someone told me that the bank called about a bad check. I was doing something else at the time and was in a different place than above. They (my father?) told me I needed to call the bank. I was confused because that would never happen.

I think this part is where the dream becomes more lucid because I was problem solving.

Then I realized the hillbillies may have changed the name on the check from City of Columbia and tried to do something else with my check. I felt very alarmed....then woke up.

What seems nonsensical and mundane becomes informative when this dream is translated into the language of mind.  This dream indicates the dreamer experienced shifts in his self value the previous day.  Something in his life stimulated him to want to do more, be more, particularly in the area symbolized by the “City of Columbia”.  This is central to the dream.

In order to understand the dream, the dreamer will need to determine the attitude this city represents in his life.  What are his thoughts about this city?  Does he see it as thriving and alive or peaceful and friendly or cold and dangerous?  Is this a city of art and culture?  Of education and commerce?  Of decay and neglect?  Whatever this man thinks about “Columbia” is the attitude being assessed.

This assessment leads the dreamer to recognize how little of his waking time has been invested in learning what he needs to know.  What he does know he needs to express but finds this unconsciously inappropriate or embarrassing.  He wants someone else to come up with the answers yet criticizes them when they do.  The dream counsels him to become aware of this tendency by letting go of his attachment.

The reason he finds this challenging or difficult rests in his attitude toward the hillbillies.  These are aspects of himself that he is rejecting.  This is at the crux of his issues with self value.  This dream is quite useful for the dreamer for it sheds light on why his self value was compromised.

Multiple Dream Experiences

All dreams bear a message for the dreamer.  Even when the dream portends future probabilities or offers a means for communicating telepathically with another, the scene, theme, and characters create a personal myth created for the dreamer by the dreamer’s inner, subconscious part of mind.  Whether we think our dreams are stupid or amazing, they do tell a story about our state of awareness.

They also reveal our state of consciousness as this dreamer notes when he writes:

I really am starting to dream too much. It is as if I opened a door and now need to close it a little. It seems like I am working too hard and I should be sleeping.

This is echoed by about 50% of our dreamers and will constitute a part of our research once the study is concluded.  Another dreamer, a female from the United States, reported a similar experience of over-stimulation, “It felt as though several dreams were going on, seemingly disjointed.” In her case, her opening observations offer a window into possible reasons for this.

Yes, YEAH!!!!  Good morning!!!

There was soooo much attention paid to the lunar eclipse yesterday/Wednesday by media, friends, & family.  I just love the moon. I've always noticed it throughout my life especially a full moon and it's effect on me or the Islamic crescent moon with the star resting in the cup, the mirror of the moon on your fingernails, biorhythms and the impact on fertility.

As a family we looked out at it 5-6x watching that night & watched it go dark, filtered. My son even called me from college saying how he and his friends went to the east side of their dorm tower to view it!!!  Lunar connections abounded at home.  All night I called out to my family come & see the moon!!!  Several times during the day I recall speaking the words aloud, "I will consciously remember my dream".  Sometimes my thoughts feel audible to me.

Again, as I was woken up (11:30 pm CT Wed. Feb 20) by my husband to go upstairs to bed.  I was asleep on the couch very very soundly which I often do because i'm an early riser. I want to be part of/together with the family in the family room.  I was in a deep deep sleep with a panoramic view! I awoke once and even said/thought I will remember my dream.  I must write it down.

Our earlier research shows that the quality of attention, more than the aggregate amount of attention, opens the door to inner level experience.  Subconsciously we are influenced by each other and this can indeed be a major factor in how we use our minds to expect and then interpret the experiences we produce.  The Universal Truth of this individual power is known to all students of Universal Law and consciousness.  We attract to us in accordance with the quality of our own thinking.  This is the message of the currently popular “The Secret” book and video which focus on the Universal Law of Attraction.

Since the researchers are well aware of the workings of Universal Law, this will also be a factor considered in this series of experiments.  Most of the dreamers in this experiment consider themselves 3rd and 4th level dreamers, meaning they already see value in dream activity.  It also makes them more likely to remember and report dream experiences.  This offers a rich resource for the research findings since we are exploring consciousness potential, not seeking to limit it.  Therefore our research is not bound to ratios of nondreamers to dreamers to lucid dreamers.  These will merely be recorded as facts in the research findings for others to consider and build upon.

Another dreamer, a School of Metaphysics student who has been practicing daily concentration and meditation for over a year, reported a similar over-active state.  Her report also reflects what it is like to become lucid in a dream, understand what is occurring, and make a conscious choice in the dream.

It was unusually difficult to sleep tonight.  I had a continual dream where I was rotating milk pitchers (the type of pitchers used at Starbucks, my place of employment).  I was grabbing them with my hands and rotating them to the right.  I repeated this process over and over and over again.

I noted that I would need to find a way to describe what was happening in order to send it in an email to the experiment.

So while I was dreaming, I determined that the milk represented whole knowledge and that rotating the milk to the right must mean that it is something I am working toward.  I also noted that I was using my hands, which represent "purpose" in the Universal Language of Mind.

The dreamer’s lucidity enables her to reach a point of resolve and direction in the dreamstate.  Following this account she went on to describe a different dream scene and action.  This type of self-control can be developed through mental disciplines such as those she is learning and applying through her SOM study.  The same practices employed in the dream to cause awareness can be applied toward relaxing mind and body.

The baseline definition of lucid dreaming is conscious awareness in the dreamstate, knowing that you are experiencing a dream.  This is similar to recognizing that you are an institute of learning.  Once you have arrived, you can determine what you will do there.  Dreams are like an inner schoolroom with nightly lessons available for us.  Some of them bring insights into the way we conduct our daily lives.  Some answer questions and help us solve problems.  Some forecast future probabilities while others reveal where we came from.

What we are willing to learn from and about our dreamstates can change the way we think and act.  Tad Messenger, one of our researchers reports the following four dreams and his interpretation of their meaning.

Here are my dreams from Wednesday night and Thursday morning February 20-21.  The lunar eclipse came at7:43 P.M. Central Time.

All Dreams were lucid.

Dream 1:  8:32 P.M.  A group of men - dignitaries with top hats, tuxes around the late 1800's early 1900'slook were all seated next to a ramp looking in the same direction.  Then the Queen of England walked out along the ramp waiving as she does.  The men all applauded.

(Interpretation:  men - conscious aspects; Queen of England - receptive inner authority - superconscious.  The message was to honor my authority with receptivity.)

Dream 2:  9:00 P.M. (Central time)  Different women were holding up cans of food and telling me the price. We were determining what the highest nutritional value we could get for the lowest price.

(Interpretation:  women - subconscious aspects; food -knowledge; price - value.  The message was reflecting my knowledge of how to use the 1 1/2 hour down at dream valley with the guys to fix as much fence as possible in order to keep the cows from getting to the hay that we save in a field for the whole winter.)

Dream 3 9:50 p.m. :  I remember women's hands stirring vegetables into the rice on the caste iron skillet on the stove.

(Interpretation - women - subconscious aspects; hands - purpose; food- knowledge; stove and skillet – a place to prepare knowledge.  The message is to use my knowledge purposefully so that others will learn.  This was foremost in my mind fixing fence and teaching Rory, and Matt how to take care of a newly born male calf that was abandoned by its mother.)

Dream 4, 11:27 p.m.  I came home from work.  I drove my car into the garage and bumped something with it because the garage was a little cluttered.  I went upstairs to my room and my sister, Al (her husband) and my mother were sitting on the stairs.  I say, "good evening", open the door and say, "fancy meeting you here on the stairs.  You must want to learn how to go from one level of mind to another."

(Interpretation:  car - physical body; house - mind; upstairs - subconscious mind; stairs - going from one level to the next; sister and Al - familiar aspects of subconscious and conscious mind; mother - superconscious mind - receptivity.  Message - first, my physical body is a little clumsy being a bit tired from chain sawing and lifting calves and wood; I am lucid in the dream and interpret the energies of the experiment realizing that I am believing strongly in my abilities to move within my subconscious mind.)

During the Lunar eclipse, over half of those remembering dreams reported more than one dream.  A dreamer in Turkey reported the following seven dreams.  Here are her descriptions and what the symbology implicates in the Universal Language of Mind.

1 There is a purple and a white violet flower as icons on my computer. They are framed in gold. I am communicating with people using these violet icons, especially the purple one. But suddenly I stop communication and focus on the icons. I realize that, when/ if I zoom out, it can be seen that they are two little pieces of same picture.

These symbols relate to what is known in Eastern sciences as Ajna, the energy center located at the brow.  These energies work to connect the mind with the pituitary gland in the brain.  The pituitary gland is the interpreter of energies, much like a computer “reads” a program thus making it useful for the operator.  The dreamer is using both right and left sides of the brain.

2  They are making gas connection to kitchen and I think the pipe seem so ugly that I have to sew a fur below, a curtain or something like that to hide the ugly pipes in the beautiful kitchen. Waiting the men finish the pipe connection I am looking around me focusing on some things. I hear Kosovo and suddenly a map appears in front of my eyes. I zoom in and zoom out to Kosovo. Than it turns to two different maps one over another but I can see both as transparent. One is the map of today and the other is the map of Ottoman Empire. To the north of us all those countries as Kosovo, Serbia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia etc and to south/ south east of us all those as; Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Arabic emirates etc etc which were ruled by Ottomans 3-4 centuries are all in fire. I close my eyes afraid to see the fire may reach us, Turkey. Then I remember we are so different from them all.

In her day’s learning, she is attempting to see the energetic connections between her past and her present, and finds she is distracted by how she appears to others

3 Something is happening in the city. It is not something political, terrorism, war etc but it is more about something natural is coming. People are trying to prepare, take precautions. What they afraid most is the people again; people who left hungry, helpless and in need etc may attack others. So they are trying either to have iron doors, window shutters, shelters etc or leave to rural areas where there are no one who may attack.

Expectation was high during the dreamer’s previous day, leaning toward the negative thinking of “not having”.  Her resolve that this not lead to inner turmoil and strife surfaces and leads to ...

4 We are visiting a new house I have out of the city to check if it can be used in case of emergency. We are having coffee at the balcony of the third floor, watching a strange red color of sun. Suddenly my aunt looks at the swimming pool below at the garden. She say; That is it. I bend and look down, I see a white shade / light in the pool water. Before I turn to ask her what it is, she jumps down in the pool. I see her diving in the middle of the white shade. I get panicked being sure she get hurt jumping from so high but there begins some words written on the water where she dived in front of my eyes, fallowing one another; Jean, Jean DArc, Jeanne de.., Mary Mother, Mother of Jesus, Jesus is. I read them in shock, thinking if she sacrificed herself to bring out some messages etc. But again to my shock she rise out from the water very healthy, and this time I begin to think if she is becoming a saint or what. Then I laugh to myself thinking such absurd things, she just wanted to dive in the water and it is a good day, hot enough for all of us to swim.

New ways of thinking bring forth superconscious connections.  The part of herself making this shift from negative to positive is symbolized by her aunt.  When she determines the part of self her aunt represents, she will know the conscious aspect of Self that has the strength to think differently and thus make a difference.

5 We are moving to my new house, which is at a deserted area close to Black Sea coast. I am checking if everything is all right, windows and doors can close etc. There is a problem with the toilet at the entry floor. We are trying to fix it with the driver bit we need a wood or something like that. We are going out to look. My house is the one before the last. The trees around us are mostly short pines. There are some oaks around but they don’t seem hard enough. I don’t want to leave the little path because my feet are bare and driver enters between the trees to look. He finds one as we need; we turn back and fix the toilet.

As the dreamer made the shift from negative thinking to positive thought, she began to realize and apply effort in tools to release the old, unwanted thoughts and attitudes – the waste products in thinking that no longer serve a purpose.

6 I begin to wander around. I think we are much far than the city we may need. I am not sure if we are doing right but even here there may be many dangers. There are huge large smokes rising from the city far away. I am entering to the little house in the garden to check. I decorated it for possible visitors and maids but didn’t pay much attention as the house itself. I am walking from room to room and realize there are people living it. Though they try to hide I find them out one by one. They are the university students, some who were renters of a flat of mom in the city, and some are their boyfriends, lovers etc. I get very angry and make a list of them. While they are trying to excuse, tell they are sorry etc. I am saying; you know I would let you stay free if you asked me. I think I am a little hurt because they did it secretly. It makes me angry and say other things, which don’t suit me but right as; should I pay water, gas, electricity etc bills for this much people? What did you think with hiding, I wouldn’t want to be hard but how could you make me pay these etc. I am getting out to turn back the house with some of them, especially a young man fallowing me to excuse.

Doubt creeps in, “am I doing/saying the right thing”, the dreamer may have thought during the previous day.  Whatever happened in the dreamer’s life the day before this dream, this subconscious feedback in the form of a dream is giving a clear read on self-reflection.  In an effort to deal with her doubt, she takes stock of the aspects of self that have wanted to learn from the situations in her life, aspects that she has not admitted until now.  With this mental action, the dreamer is coming to a new level of responsibility in deciding which aspects to support and continue to energize.

7 I am entering the house with a list in my hand. There are 10 books in the list I must read to understand what is happening to the world. I am trying to memorize them walking towards the stairs. List begins with The finance markets of the world by Ken Kenneth or Kennedy etc. Fallows by some book I don’t know at all, some esoteric/mystic ones and ends with State Mother of Orhan Kemal. Than I see my cousin walking and accuse her knowing the students staying in my garden house but hiding it (she is teaching at a university) from me. She accepts and tries to explain but I don’t want to hear. I think the night is approaching and it may be good to have them around, in the garden house. I feel strong danger.   Only aware of dreaming not enough lucid.

The dreamer has reached a point of clarity through putting her learning in perspective.  Whatever happened during her day, this dream says she handled it well.  She took a situation that she stimulated fear and doubt and turned something negative into an opportunity for self awareness and growth.  The dream message leaves her focused on her cousin.  When the dreamer identifies the quality of this conscious aspect she will know the part of self that is continuing to fuel fear and doubt in her ability to leave the past behind.

In this sequence of dreams, the dreamer’s thoughts are elucidated, her personal mythology revealed.  Have we always remembered dreams in such lush detail? The answer is probably not.  The evolving human consciousness has only developed the ability to see the color blue in the past 2000 years.  Now, there are those who are beginning to see to push the envelop, seeing past the limitations of the physical spectrum toward the world of ultraviolet light.

Have dreams always been this rich in scope, depth, and imagery?  As revealed in this dream, it is a product of our modern civilization – the world mankind creates every day – that this woman can populate one night’s dreams with a computer, maps of a centuries-old world, gas and electric bills, and 10 books.  All of these advances have occurred in recent years, the personal computer in little over a generation.

The richness of our lives reflects in our dreams.  Perhaps we are weaving the myths of the future right now.•
