Updates from the GLOBAL LUCID DREAMING EXPERIMENT research staff

The Global Lucid Dreaming Experiment is a series of experiments designed to explore the reality of our dreams.

What are the Moon Experiments like for the researchers?
School of Metaphysics President Dr. Laurel Clark is currently touring the U.S. lecturing/teaching on the topic of her latest book The Law of Attraction and other secrets of Visualization. Here she gives this account of her lunar eclipse dreams of February 20th.
First:
I woke up after only being asleep for a few minutes with the words in my mind, “Outstanding Tao” and the impression of Chris (male, teacher) and Damian (male, teacher/SOM director in Dallas, Texas) and me.
Interpretation:
First, some facts about the environment: I am in Dallas. The room I am sleeping in is very noisy; there is a bar next door and the parking lot is right below the window of my room. There was a lot of mental noise and physical noise (people talking and car doors slamming) as I went to sleep. I think this pulled me out of sleep. I think what I experienced was in the 6th level.
Some background: This evening I gave a lecture on The Law of Attraction to a group of people at an agency called Gilda’s Club. Yesterday the program director called, concerned because there were only 2 people signed up for it. It had been set up late and they didn’t have it in their newsletter. She was thinking of canceling it and Damian said we wanted to go ahead and do it. The Dallas school and students had done quite a bit of publicity, with posters, emails, and word of mouth. As it turned out, we had a full house. People were very interested and gave excellent feedback on what they learned. Four people signed up for classes and quite a few more were interested. There were many good conversations after the lecture.
I think these words “outstanding tao” were referring to an alignment I am experiencing within myself and with the people with whom I am creating. The Tao is sometimes translated as “the way,” universal law, God energy. Damian is the director and Chris is a teacher in the Dallas school; their creative minds were engaged in setting up the conditions and circumstances for me to give what I have to offer. The mutual creating was an example of outstanding tao!
Next dream:
I am sitting across a table from my mother explaining elements and modes in astrology. I tell her that Kim, Claire (my two sisters), and I are cardinal, mutable, and fixed.
I go into another room. I am going to run some water. There is a cat underfoot. It is bothering me. I go to let it out and have to nudge it, kind of kick it, with my foot so it will go out the door.
Interpretation:
My mother symbolizes my superconscious mind. My sisters are conscious aspects of myself. This is interesting to me; the last time I dreamed for the lucid dreaming experiment my sisters were also in my dream and I don’t often dream about them.
This part of the dream is indicating an awareness I am developing of myself as multi-dimensional, more well-rounded. I am becoming aware of how intelligence directs energy into form and how to hold a thought form in mind through the process. This is the expression of cardinal, mutable, and fixed. I have awareness of this in my conscious mind.
The cat symbolizes a habit. I am becoming aware of habits that interfere with my creative process and am trying to eliminate them. In most cases, the habit that interferes is doubt. Although the cat was bugging me, I’m glad it went out the door when I pushed it! This tells me I am making some progress in eliminating the doubts.•
Researcher Matt Valois was born in the Philippines and raised in the U.S. He is a teaching assistant at the College of Metaphysics. Matt’s consciousness involvement in these experiments is clear in his dream account. We thought you would find his interpretation of the dream events illuminating and perhaps helpful in deciphering your own dreams.
Here is my dream:
I dreamt that I was separating out the different experiences people had with the GLOBAL LUCID DREAMING EXPERIMENT; some people remembered a dream, some didn’t, varying degrees of lucidity, etc. Instead of working with emails, I was interviewing hundreds of participants and directing them into different groups depending upon their experiences. Some were students (in SOM) and some weren’t. I remember conversing with Natalie Axberg about the different categories. Jen Childers was present as well. They were assisting me in directing people into different groups.
Symbols in the dream:
1. Global Lucid Dreaming Experiment - productive state of mind involving inner experiences.
2. participants - aspects with varying degrees of inner awareness
3. Natalie - subconscious aspect of strength
4. Jen - subconscious aspect of unity
5. different dream groupings - the action of separating and identifying qualities by experience and awareness
I see how this relates to the previous day.
I felt somewhat inward throughout the day, as I practiced examining every thought I had. I asked myself throughout the day, “Is this thought productive, or unproductive? If not, what can I transform it into? If it is, how can I expand or improve upon it?” Answering the first question is like separating the “wheat from the chaff” and placing the people into groups is like placing thoughts into varying degrees of awareness/experience. One of the physical stimuli for this was the pain I’ve been feeling from what I think is a spider bite. My attention was drawn to the pain throughout the day.
I used this discomfort as a stimulus to ask myself what thoughts/attitudes/states of being I desired at any given time and to direct my attention to what I was creating in that moment. Over time, my thoughts of “Wow, this hurts ALOT. I want to go away and crash for awhile,” and the accompanying grumpiness fell away as I became more invested in what I wanted to cause: a productive attitude that focuses on aiding people and the self regardless of the outer environment. I developed and drew upon strength (Natalie) and unified my mind (Jen) in the process.
Our ongoing research into dreams has supported the findings of many cultures that dreams are messages relevant to the dreamer. When evaluated in this light, dreams become self-reflective personal myths focused on our potential growth and well-being.
In the hundreds of dreams that participants have generously shared, we have the opportunity to learn more about ourselves as individuals and as a race of thinking beings. Just what our dreams are telling us, we expect will become clearer in the coming months as we study our findings in depth and begin to share them with you, and the world. B. Condron, 3-2-08
