LUCIDITY FACTOR

 Level 1

DREAM REPORT

The DREAMER writes:  “I did not remember the details of my dreaming unfortunately but I do remember that I was dreaming about my dog and something about her having a problem needing fixed but she was split (not physically) down the middle with this problem that needed attention...like one side needed this and the other side needed that kind of thing.  That's all I remember.

DREAM STATE

“I do remember waking up during the time period but could not get focused on the dream to remember it so I forced myself to go back to sleep and dream the same dream again.  I was successful in doing that but still when I finally woke up and tried to recall the details it was if they vanished instantly without the ability to recall all of it.  I'm sorry I could not be of more help.”

The dreamer’s ability to replay the dream demonstrates one manifestation of lucid dreaming.

DREAM CONTENT

Although the content is sparse, it is relevant for the dreamer indicating a habitual use of her brain.  There is a growing body of knowledge today concerning the selective functioning in the right and left sides of the brain.  Although specialized in particulars, the brain is also proving to be quite adaptable in its duties.  The snippet of dream you caught may well hold the key to what steps you can take to bring the two sides together in working harmony.  Research at the School of Metaphysics into the relationship of Mind to body-brain shows a cause-effect relationship between the two.

As you develop control of your mental attention you will find you develop the capacity for clearer memory recall while simultaneously drawing upon the whole brain.  The key, according to your dream is in becoming conscious of what you do automatically.  What is happening when you can remember a friend's anniversary yet forget an appointment you made last week?  Why does this happen and how can you remedy it?

The answer to this common, and very personal to you dilemma, is exercising your memory. Developing both physical attention and mental attention will get you there.

There are many good books that give techniques for doing this.  At SOM we specialize in the knowledge and experience which develops the whole person, so you learn ways to exercise your potential and the understanding of why it works so you can transfer the skill to all areas of your life.  Check out the program online at www.som.org .
