Dreams reflect our state of mind for 24-48 hours prior to having the dream.  During this time, the dreamer was experiencing an emotional state, which led to recall of many different ways that she has imagined herself through the life.  What has been imagined is directly related to the identity she has built for herself, who she imaged herself becoming.

The car in the dream symbolizes the body and the pictures The dreamer is reviewing the state of their body, perhaps reminiscing about how they used to be.  “I used to be so funny and gregarious when I was thin.”  “When I was younger my body had more energy and I was so much more social and friendly.”  This type of journey down memory lane is connected with the many different ways that the dreamer has identified the Self throughout the life.

MURKY WATER

This dream was so vivid and didn't fade as some do when waking, I thought it might have some meaning that I was missing.

The dream starts out as I am looking down on what used to be a pond. It is now mostly dried up with disgusting brown water pooling in parts of it. There are dead, floating fish all in the remaining water. For some reason this makes me feel very sad. I remember thinking "how sad, this used to be so beautiful". I remember intently looking at the fish as I am going by. I realize I am a passenger in a car driving down a dirt path. My boyfriend is driving the car. The pond or ponds are on either side of the path. I can see further up the path that water is crossing the path and it looks like it is quite deep. The water over the path is crystal clear unlike the nasty sewer looking water on either side of us. From the back of the car I hear "no, don't drive thru  it, we won't make it" or something to that extent...I can't remember the exact words. I recognize the voise as my Mother. My boyfriend disregards what my Mother has said and speeds up and plows thru the water covering the road. I remember being frightened and thinking we won't make it. The car for a moment seems like it is going to be swept off the road and then I can feel traction again and we safely make it thru the water and back on to the dry path with the pond behind us.

I wake up right after that. This dream has stuck with me for a week. I rarely can remember them THIS vivid.

There is an experience that used to produce spiritually for you and it is now all dried up.  Maybe you once attended a religious service as a part of a religion that no longer supports you in the ways it used to.  You have revisited this old experience and have found some new clean opportunities though you feel like these new opportunities for new experience are sweeping you away.  You are being directed in your decision-making by a sense of commitment to your inner Self.  Your concept of authority, the way you govern your mind is opposed to this particular experience. This produces a apparent paradigm. You make it through and continue on the path you where headed on.  If you look at life for learning then realize that every experience in life that you learn from is valuable and every experience provides you with the opportunity to cause a permanent change in you, to learn and grow.  Update the way you govern your Self, by exposing your Self to knew and different ways of looking at life and then give your Self experience with these new ideas.  Visit www.som.org and click on the locations link to find out the location of our Texas School of Metaphysics.  The education offered will provide you with new ways of looking at learning and your Self.

RECURRING DREAM WITH FRIEND

I keep having these dreams.. there is no specific date for the first dream I had, they started some time a few months back. First I should state that I have kept a secret for about 4 years now that I have very deep feelings for one of my male friends, but because of the circumstances (us both being male, and him being what I think to be heterosexual) I have kept this to myself. A lot of mututal friends suspect that he is in a similar situation to myself though, perhaps he is gay or bisexual and in the closet.

Anyways, back to the dreaming. At first they were average, he would just appear in my dreams every once in a while, just his face or presence was there. After a while, when I progressively started seeing him more in real life, I started to see him more in my dreams doing more involved things with me.. Giving me a ride home, sitting beside me watching a movie in a group of friends, etc. All of thes e situations ended up happening similarly later, but those are also very vague situations that can happen with just about anyone. Soon after that, I started having very moving dreams that usually involved him talking to me, having conversations with me similar to ones we ended up having later.. very personal conversations about our lives.. I felt these dreams very deep in my heart as though they had actually happened, as though I had formed a connection with him. Later, I started dreaming that he was telling me he was thinking about me, and he feels the same way.. But it was like he was at the far end of a room with a crowd of people between us and he was telling me he was thinking about me. All I remember was his face though, I just sensed a crowd between us. He has since then sent signals my way, in real life, which might hint that he's interested in me, there are rumors that he knows about how I feel about him, but he doesn't act phased by it (if he even knows) and sometImes he even acts like he feels the same way.

These dreams keep happening and I usually wake up feeling very confused, because I like the thought that maybe it's some form of communication, but also a little hurt because it was only a dream and I have no idea if this is just wishful thinking. I just don't know what this type of dreaming means, I keep having dreams like this, just about 2 or 3 times a week. If you have any idea what this means, please help me.

People in dream are symbolic of the different parts of us. Physical attraction in a dream is a desire to use that part of yourself to create something within your life. When a person is attracted to someone there is one or more quality that that person expresses that the first person desires to build within the self. What qualities does your friend have that makes him appealing to you? When you recognize this you will discover what qualities he has that you desire to cultivate within you. This is a significant message because it is recurring several times a week.

FAMILY ENCOUNTERS

In the dream I was awakened by my 6 year old. He had a wet accident in his bed (that we no longer have) and so than I changed him and moved him to his bunk bed(currently have).  Upon tucking him in I noticed these spiders.  Small, black spiders with bright orange on the joints of their legs. They were climbing onto my hair and falling onto the floor and some were climbing onto the ceiling.  I grab some bug spray to get rid of them and they disappear before I could spray.  I grab my son and walk towards the front door, but it is open.  Two girls are standing in the doorway drawing my aattention that the door was open when they walked by it.  As I look back, somehow, my exhusband (I am remarried) is in the apartment and begins struggling with someone.  I look over to the kitchen area and there is my grandmother smiling at us(who is deceased) and as I walk toward her, she turns into my mother (not her d aughter) then I woke up.

The most important aspect of this dream is the people.  All the people are parts of you.  Identify the most outstanding characteristic of each of the people in your dream, as they are in your waking life.  Once you have done this you can ask your Self, “How am I like this?”

There is a habit in your thinking that is symbolized by your thoughts and is disturbing you when you are attempting to care for that part of your Self that is developing and is like you son.  Start with the people in your dreams and work from there.  Doing some breathing exercises everyday would help you to calm your mind and slow your thoughts.  Slow thoughts aid us to separate and identify the productive thoughts from the unproductive

HOTEL BUSINESS

In this particular dream I am in this huge hotel with many huge, ornate rooms. There are different rooms - ornate bathrooms with huge tubs and showers decorated in gold with counters and drawers full of make-up (i love make-up), dressing rooms full of gorgeous gowns and clothes, bedrooms with huge beds.  I keep running around the rooms trying to get ready for some dinner or something and just can never seem to get everything done.  Then I run around the hotel looking for various things (coffee, people) and I can't seem to find them.

Another similar dream, I'm in what looks like my old church but it's bigger with more rooms and I'm preparing to get married to someone (never know who). There are a lot of my friends around and my grown daughter is little.  There are racks of clothes that we're trying to get everyone dressed in.  Then I go to a dressing-like room where there is make-up and stuff to do my hair a nd I can't seem to get ready in time.  Then I'm trying to find one of my old, old friends from childhood that I never see any more and can't find her.

Response

A hotel reflects the state of your mind where you are connected to other people.  In this large and attractive state of mind you have tasks to do, more than you can accomplish in the time you have.  This dream is showing your ability to connect with people and anticipating growth in yourself in terms of your knowledge (the preparing for dinner).  It is also showing the many tasks that you were doing the day before.

This dream could look like preparing the kids for school, grabbing all the outgoing mail, making yourself coffee and cleaning a little bit of the house before going thinking of all the many tasks that you could do if you had the time and you then drive the kids to school on your way to work.

A simple practice you can apply to your life is making each day a little better than the day before.  You aren’t looking for perfection with all of your activities, more so an improvement of all the great deeds you accomplish a little bit at a time.

The second dream indicates a commitment you are in the process of developing, but you are not consciously aware of what exactly you are committing to.  The commonality in both dreams is the inability to find things and people.  This would indicate a need to learn to have greater focus and concentration skills.  Visit www.som.org to find a School of Metaphysics close to your location.  The classes will provide tools to strengthen your mind’s skills.

This dream is showing that the day before you had this dream you experience a familiar attitude or way of thinking symbolized by your father’s village. The water represents the experiences that you had in your day. Clothing is the way we present ourselves to the world. Trying to keep the clothes dry was a way in which you were trying to keep your expression unaffected by the experiences you had during the day. People in dreams represent different parts of ourselves. If you think of how you would describe your uncle as a person in one or two words, this will tell you the part of you that he represents. How was thins part of yourself affecting your state of mind?

It sounds like you you’re wondering whether or not there’s a connection between your relationship with your boyfriend and your dreams.  Dreams are messages from the subconscious mind for you and about you.  The images of people, places, and things in a dream all represent parts of you and your state of awareness from the previous day.  These dreams provide a feedback system to help you become aware of your own attitudes and feelings.  In this way, dreams provide an avenue for self-discovery and self-transformation.

Your subconscious mind will use the images of people, places, and things of your waking life, (in this case your boyfriend), to convey its messages through dreams.  As your boyfriend in waking life plays a special part of your life, his appearance in your dreams represents a part of you that’s both familiar and highly prized.  Think of how you would describe your boyfriend to another person.  What would be the first qualities that would arise in your mind?  Is he sensitive and loving, determined and steadfast, or considerate and attentive?  His presence in your dreams will represent the quality you associate with him the most.

In your dream, you mention that you had a baby with him.   In dream language, babies represent new ideas being birthed.  Therefore, the dream shows that you’ve utilized the creative process of the mind through your use and connection with the quality your boyfriend represents.  If he represents “caring” to you, then it’s through your own “caring” that you’ve birthed new creative ideas.

TORANDO’S RERUN

The place of the dream is always different but the premise of it is always the same.

There is a tornado and I have to get my kids safe.  We were in a tornado couple of years ago and I had my kids with me and wanted to, of course, make sure they were safe.

I am assuming this is why I am having these dreams but will they ever go away?  Is this the reason I am having this dream?

The subconscious mind, the part of you that creates your dreams based upon your daily experiences the day before, will use any images recorded in the brain to convey a message.  The message is not a repeated memory from a few years ago.  It is a reflection of your thinking, emoting, and acting the day before you had the dream.

Wind represents thought in a dream, and a tornado is unpredictable and destructive wind, or thought.  As you learn how to concentrate you will calm the winds of your mind and attain a sense of peace in yourself for as you learn to concentrate you will learn how to build your will, a secret ingredient in mental, emotional, and physical security.  We recommend the book Concentration by Dr. Laurel Clark that can be found on www.som.org.

HUNDREDS OF DEAD BRIDES

I had a dream I was driving down the road with my parents.  I was in the backseat.  On the left side of the road we saw a church.  As we drove closer we could see the police were pulling out a dead bridal party and laying them near the road, face up.  Some of the bridesmaids had shocked expressions on their faces.  There was probably about 14 members of the bridal party.  They were all dead, yet none of them were bloody.  In my dream I knew that they were murdered by a human, but I couldn't figure out how.  Then on the left side of the street there were hundreds of dead brides hanging from trees.  Each bride was different and wore a different dress.  The line of dead brides dragged on for at least a mile, and there were priests walking up and down the brides blessing them and themselves.  My father was driving, and remained calm the whole time and told us to just look the other way.

There has been a recent and dramatic change in your commitment to something that has been important in your life.  The change appears to have been brought about by conditions outside of you.  The result is that your learning has been cut off, incomplete, regarding the situation being highlighted by your dream.

Look for ways in recent days where there has been a change in the direction you were moving.  Look for ways that you have altered the path you were on.  Since the members of the wedding party were murdered, this reflects a part of Self that has stopped you or robbed you from learning from your experiences.  The significance of a church and wedding are reflecting the commitment to yourself and you spiritual nature.

Since you are observing this experience can you remember a significant change in yourself before this dream?  It could be an angry conversation with someone dear and in that ending a relationship, or deciding to make a life changing decision with the direction of your life.  The key to this dream lies you being able to move forward in your life.  There is no going back, merely the opportunity to understand what you have set into motion.  Reflect on your choices and those that could have been better upgrade in your thinking while finding the good matter how small in regards to each choice. DREAMLESS

I cant remember the last dream I had. I know I sleep for hours at a time. So i always have time to enter REM sleep.

If I am dreaming I can never remember. When I did dream I could always remember.  I would at least wake up with the since that I was dreaming. At most I could wake up and write down what I had dreamed. The only dream I have had lately was short but seemed very real and so scary that I woke out of it with my heart pounding and could only remember the end. I was being chased by monsters and everywhere I turned there they were. I remained just out of their grasp but could never seem to get any further away from them. Running, driving or any other way.

I want to have good dreams again. Lately I hate sleeping cause I know that when I wake ill be just as stressed, tired and unmotivated as I was when I went to sleep. Most of the time falling asleep is not a challenge. But like tonight its 2:40 am and if I lay down I will still be awake for God knows how long. Can you help me?

Here’s a simple practice for increasing dream recall.  For the greatest results, practice everyday:

Get a notebook or journal.  You will be only using this for recording your dreams.

  1. In your dream journal, write down the next day’s calendar date (ex: July 30, 2008) right before you go to bed.  Underneath the date, write “I will remember my dreams.”  Sign your name next to this statement.
  2. Say “I will remember my dreams,” out loud while visualizing yourself writing down your dreams immediately upon waking the next morning.
  3. Go to sleep.
  4. Upon waking up, write down in your dream journal as much as you can remember about your dreams, how matter how much or little.
  5. If you did not remember your dreams, write down “I did not remember my dreams from last night.  I will remember my dreams tonight.”
  6. Repeat this practice the next day.

In order to reap the benefits of this exercise, practice everyday.  Consistently acting upon your desire to remember dreams through this activity will communicate to your subconscious mind your true desire to remember your dreams.  Then, it will do everything it can to aid your in receiving its messages in the form of dreams.
