IS THIS REAL...UNIVERSAL BIKE TOUR...CRACKED SIDEWALKS...ENGLAND ALLIGATOR...THE OFFICE PATIENT...A FATHER’S PLEAD...GRANDMOTHER...FLOATING FLOWERS...THE ADVANCES OF ANOTHER MAN...5 TON TRUCK

IS THIS REAL

The dream seemed so realistic...I can't determine if its true or not. I dont remember all of it but I have a boyfriend and he is here with me in Iraq.

Well I dreamt the normal day I would have at work and then I went to his room. We had sex and he whispered I love you in my ear while we were having sex! We went to sleep and when I woke up I dont know if it was real or not.

Now as the day goes by it was a dream....What does it mean?

Response

Your boyfriend is a symbol for your subconscious mind. You were harmonizing and creating using both your conscious and subconscious minds.

For example, you set into motion a desire consciously, such as wanting a certain person to call, and then you released this desire and placed your attention on something else you were doing and then the person called.  This is how the subconscious mind works.  It fulfills our conscious desires. If you felt as though you were in the zone and everything was working pretty good then you were probably in alignment with your subconscious mind and that is what the dream is saying.

UNIVERSAL BIKE TOUR

I was floating on a bike, with a basket on the front and my dog was with me. It was out in the universe where there was vast nothingness and glimmers of light.  I felt joy, peace and serenity.I wasn't pedaling just floating.

female/CA, United States

Response

This dream is describing a very peaceful state of mind that you might have described as, balanced, meditative and very inward.  By identifying when you experienced this you will have the opportunity to identify how you caused it and perhaps learn to reproduce it consciously.  The presence of the dog signifies that there is a habitual component to this experience.  If you are a meditator than perhaps you were thinking instead of meditating.  Various types of hallucinogens taken recreationally could also produce this type of dream.

CRACKED SIDEWALKS

I was in a room with what appeared to be Navy Officers.  One young, very handsome officer took me by the arm as if he were with me.  I was wondering in the dream why this handsome, young officer was interested in a woman of my age.  As we started to walk, the sidewalks were all broken up as far as I could see.  My left leg fell through one of the large cracks or openings of the concrete, and as I pulled my leg out, I was removing the large pieces of concrete from my leg and shoe.  The officer helped hold on to me and walked me to what appeared to be the city building to make a complaint.  The room was very empty except for a few desks to the right of the room.  The woman informed me the street commissioner was not in yet, but I could make a complaint.  The officer took me by the arm and said we would return later, and we walked out, still seeing all the broken sidewalks.

You are looking to cause a change in the way you think and therefore experience your mind and your life. Keep up your newfound discipline it is attractive to you and eventually it will produce the change you are looking for, be determined in fulfilling your goals.  In this case you desire to change your state of mind and this road is fraught with many potential delays and distractions.  It is of utmost importance that you have a clear image of your purpose for causing change in your life.  You need to know what it is you have to gain through learning something new and practicing discipline, knowing what we have to gain from achieving our goals motivates us to perform the necessary activity to make the goal a reality.

ENGLAND ALLIGATOR

I was driving in England but on the right side of the road (for some reason I knew it was England) the cars were driving really fast, I knew where I was going and was maintaining speed with the other cars.  At some point my car went off the road down what appeared to be steps.  I was attempting to get my car back up the steps by pulling it. I glanced at the traffic, I supposed to check to see if anyone was coming and when I looked back my car was an alligator.

Response

What do you think of when you think of England in one or two words?  Is it beautiful, original, spiritual, powerful, or physically orientated?  Answering this question will describe the state of your mind when you were in this dream.

In this state of mind you were using your body in an energetic way, seeking to maintain a certain pace within your whole Self.  This could be exercising in a group like cycling, or even physical activities like errand shopping and work.  The key is that you lost your direction mentally and began to purposefully get back on track with accomplishing your goals with your body.  This could be through an encouraging talk like “Come on, I know you can do this” or just simply imagining your goals and getting the body back in “gear” to accomplish them.

As you do this purposeful action you uncover a habitual way of thinking.  It is related to how you use your body, how your mind moves quickly, and how you get distracted.  Slowing your mind down through learning concentration will give you the edge in your life that will keep on track with all that you want to do and be.  Concentration is the key to stay focused in the fast paced world we have created.  Undivided attention and concentration can be used to change limiting ways of thinking into positive and productive ones.  We recommend the book The Law of Attraction and Other Secrets of Visualization that can be found on www.som.org

THE OFFICE PATIENT

I have had two dreams about cheating on my husband. The first was earlier in the month and the second was last night or the night before.

In the first dream I was cheating with a man that is a patient in the office that I work in. I'm unsure if I know the man I was cheating with in real life in the second dream. In both dreams I think I told my husband or was trying to tell my husband what I had done. I don't think he "caught" me in the act though.  I remember a feeling of trying to bring him where I was with the other man.

I have never cheated on my husband nor have I ever entertained the thought of cheating on my husband. I feel like we have a good healthy committed relationship that is also sexually satisfying. I feel uncomfortable telling him about these dreams so I haven't.  But I don't think I really feel guilty, maybe a little embarrassed. I started taking a continuing education class three weeks ago that will continue for the next 12 weeks.  It is a night class which means I must leave him alone withour 2 children one night a week. Any correlation to the dream?

Response

Dreams reflect our waking state of awareness the day before you had these dreams.  They are symbolic in nature.  Understanding that dreams are describing our state and content of consciousness in pictures we understand that the dream is not literal.  Sex in a dream represents harmony between conscious and subconscious minds.  Consciously people have desires, and subconsciously people are drawn to or “attracted” to places, people, and situations that can fulfill desires..

In the dream you are attempting to communicate with your husband or the part of you that represents your subconscious mind.  This shows there is an attempt to balance accounts mentally, emotionally, and physically. It is important to know what part of yourself you are experiencing harmony with.  This comes from identifying your thoughts when you have them and understanding why you have them.  If these dreams are reflecting your new Continuing Education class then it becomes important to reflect more deeply on why your are in this class.  If you find this class truly to your benefit then you can rest assured that your entire family will benefit as well. Your husband might be able to spend some one on one time with the kids and your children could see a good example of “learning continues past traditional school” that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.  The important point is to understand more deeply what you are creating in your life and how it can be beneficial to everyone that you interact with.

Dreams are messages from the subconscious mind or inner mind that relates the dreamer’s thinking, emotions, and actions from the previous day in the form of pictures.  Nightmares occur when these messages go unheeded, acting as a stimulus for the dreamer to respond to the message at hand.  In this case, the dream shows a significant need to stay connected with your ideals, or to stay true to yourself.

This dream takes place in a house, which represents your state of mind.  Since the majority of the dream revolves around this location, then the dream message involves what occurs in your mind.  The people in your dream represent different parts of you or different qualities you hold.  Since your father (superconscious aspect), DH (conscious aspect if female, subconscious aspect if male), and your daughter, (aspect in development), are involved several if not all divisions of the mind are represented (dependant upon DH’s gender), this message also addresses something in your thinking and experience that affects all of your mind.

The action in the dream involves first coming into the house, hearing your father plead for his life, then running out to an old store to find help.  The latter action makes sense, since you don’t want you father harmed in any way, right?

Nevertheless, since dreams function in pictures, it’s important to note that out of all the people present in the house, it was you that left to search for help, while DH and your daughter wanted to stay.  In other words, while you have within your mind several parts of you or qualities that you can utilize for creativity or accomplishment of goals, you took yourself out of the picture.  Since you didn’t see your father in the dream, you went to find help based upon the belief that he was in trouble.  Your father represents your own inner authority.  Therefore, being overly worried or stressed, (believing that something’s wrong without seeing it), causes you to disconnect with your own inner authority.  This is the type of authority that is a key factor in choosing and aligning your thoughts and actions with who you desire to become.

Go throughout your day observing your thoughts.  Don’t try to change the subject of your thinking, just merely observe.  People on average have 50,000 thoughts.  What the dream shows is that sometime during your previous day, fear, doubt, and/or stress affected you greatly by disconnecting yourself from your inner authority.  Notice the times throughout your day that you feel the most stressed.  Whenever those times arise, one great practice is to simply practice taking in slow, very deep breaths.  Conscious breathing not only energizes the body, it helps focus the mind to be present.  Fears and doubts exist when people image things they don’t want to happen and then react to them.  Since deep breathing brings you to the present moment, then fears and doubts have to lessen, for they require taking the focus of the mind out of the present moment.  The more you practice staying inside the house or being present, still, and objective throughout the day, the nightmares will you, stress levels will decrease, and you will find yourself able to respond to life’s situations to a greater degree.

Grandmother

I don't have a specific dream to ask about, it's more of a recurring image. My grandmother, who I lived with, died 8/30/06. I was very close to her, in fact, I was her favorite grandchild. In the last 5 or so years, I paid little attention to her and did really help out around the house. She went in & out of the hospital and rehab center from 5/06 till she passed away. I very rarely went to see her because it always seemed like I had better things to do. I took her death the hardest and to this day regreat everything I had done. I now dream of her frequently, almost 3-4 times a week. It's never a bad dream, just us basically talking and spending time together. She seems so real as if she was right in front of me. I just want to know why I dream of her so often.

female/NJ, United States

Response

This is a very common inquiry. People in our dreams symbolize parts of our self. The reason that people often dream about people who have died is because there is a certain part of themselves that the person who died naturally brought out. With a grandmother it may be a feeling of security, or love, or maybe you felt like you were more of your self around your grandmother. If you can realize what part of you your grandmother stimulated, you can begin consciously experiencing this in your daily life.

FLOATING FLOWERS

I was with the J* brothers, hanging out with them, laughing with them then their father came very mad then all of us. Suddenly it changed where I was walking my way through a japanese garden then K* J* was there stretching his hands that says "take my hand" thing then I hold his hand while we were walking, as I raise my head up there were this people looking at us suddenly I felt so embarrasd for myself. And people keep giving me a look like is she for real?. Then we came to this bench which is in the middle of a small japanese garden bridge where 2 girls sat, the bench was facing forward so I was looking at their back suddenly there were many yellow and white roses going upward, like going up to the sky like a balloon flying under the bench. I tried to catch one but unfortunately I hadn't caught a yellow rose then I caught a white rose exactly as the same time one of the girls caught the same rose  we look at each others hand then the face then we scream at each other and we both let go of the flower. Kevin got a yellow flower.

Everyone in your dream represents an aspect of yourself.  Describe each one of the known people in your dream in one or two words.  Each description is a quality you possess that you were using the day before you had this dream. K* is a subconscious or inner part of yourself and so is the other brother.  The father is another subconscious aspect that has control over the other two parts of you as represented by the brothers.  This part of yourself is mad at his sons and you.  This shows conflict within yourself.  This conflict within yourself was a stimulus to reflect in your mind, specifically the subconscious existence where thought images grow and develop in regards to beauty.  This beauty isn’t physical; rather it is the beauty of being yourself expressing yourself with your unique perspective on life and your natural talents called understandings.

K* is a part of yourself that you purposefully connect with, however parts of you are criticizing your choice.  The key here is to know your thoughts, to know your intentions, or the reasons why you do what you do.  When you can honestly evaluate what is before you, you will have the strength to stand up to any negative criticism whether internally or externally generated.

The floating flowers are thought images that you have created in your mind.  These thoughts are a part of your life, a part of your inner life and there is the desire to receive these desires into your waking existence.  The fact that you and another girl both grabbed the white flower and screamed at one another is another example of how you need to become more Self-aware.  Knowing yourself begins by knowing the thoughts that you have in your mind.  As you become aware of your thoughts, you will be able to have a deeper realization of your desires, needs, and imagined thoughts giving you a greater understanding of yourself that will help you have a more fulfilling life.

THE ADVANCES OF ANOTHER MAN

I was having a birthday party at my house (don't know who it was for) and there were lots of people (couldn't really see anyones faces) in the kitchen area with me while I was getting stuff ready.  I was trying to frost the cake when a man I know (he is the son-in-law of a friend of mine) came over the me and started talking and then started kissing my neck.  I told him to stop and he asked why.  I said because we are both married.  He told he me he wasn't really married anymore because his wife had left him.  I told him to stop, and I even looked around to see if anyone was noticing what was going on.  I was hoping my husband had seen it so he would come over.  He was nowhere around.  I told him to stop again and then I woke up.In real life I have not seen this man in years.  He and his wife are seperated and I have never had any feelings towards this man.

It’s important to understand that dreams are messages from the subconscious mind that reflect your attitudes, emotions, and actions from the previous day.  The people in your dreams, where the dream is located, and the action of the dream itself all play a role in conveying this message.  You don’t need to be concerned about having unconscious feelings about a man you haven’t seen in years or visa-versa, because like you said, they don’t exist.  The image of this man coming onto in your dream is symbolic of the relationship you have to your own commitment to your own ideals and goals.

In this dream, marriage plays a major role in revealing the message of this dream, for it represents commitment in your own inner self.  Being committed to your own inner self means being constant in fulfilling your desires that lend themselves to the development of your own potential as an individual.  This could come in a variety of ways, from being true to yourself by working a job that you love, forming friendships with a variety of people, passing on the wisdom you have gained in life to others, or practicing meditation daily.  All these activities build inner qualities like compassion, love, kindness, determination, and passion that make you whole.  The presence of the man in your dream and his advances towards you shows that the previous day, you became somewhat aware of thoughts, emotions, or activities that don’t necessarily align with being committed to your inner self.  That’s why your subconscious mind perhaps used the image of this man: someone you haven’t seen in years and someone you recognize as having no chance of being in a relationship with since you’re happily married.

The absence of your husband in the dream paints a similar picture, one that shows that somewhere during the previous day, you were somewhat disconnected from your own commitment.  The presence of several people that you do not know and hosting a birthday party for someone you don’t know suggests that you’re somewhat unfamiliar or unaware that this movement away from your commitment exists.  Becoming clear with the type of person you desire to become, whether that’s a photographer that captures beautiful pictures of nature to share with others, a parent that supports a child reach for their dreams and highest potentials, an influential person whose very presence has a healing impact of others, or a nurse who has a high level of care and kindness for her patients.

One place to start is making a list of the key people in your life.  Identify their greatest qualities or strengths.  This can include anything from being open-minded, courageous, or empathetic.  Choose one of these qualities to focus on throughout the day.  Endeavor to incorporate this quality in every activity.  As you practice this diligently with all of the qualities, your dreams will change.  Dreams change as you change your own thinking and attitudes.  You’ll possibly have more dreams of being with your husband and people you know versus having dreams with unknown people and other men besides your husband making undesirable advances.

5 Ton Truck

Dear Interpreter,

This is my dream about my 13 year old son:

The dream was in the schoolyard in front of my son's school. There were many spectators including me. His teacher made him drive a 5 ton truck and was giving him instructions from outside the truck. My son was making a sharp left turn that caused the truck to turn on its side and catch fire. The teacher sent my son's younger friend to rescue him. I jumped running to save him as his close were on fire. I took dirt from the ground putting out the fire around his right arm and dragged him away from the truck. In front of everyone, I was shouting with anger at the teacher, "He is only 13. How could you put him behind the wheel of a 5 ton truck"

Your help in understanding the meaning of this dream is very much appreciated?

Response

Dreams are about the person having the dream. The people in your dream, including your son, are parts of your self. If you describe your son in one or two words, that will tell you what he represents in you. Is your son honest, thoughtful, does he take action before he thinks?  Because he is thirteen, he represents a part of you that is still growing and changing. Thirteen-year-old boys do not usually drive large truck. This is a way you are using this part of yourself in a way that it is not prepared for.

Fire is symbolic of expansion. Clothing is the way we express ourselves to others.  The fire on his clothes shows that there is a way you are expanding the way you express this part of your self. The truck symbolizes your physical body. When there are accidents in our dreams, we need to look at how we are taking care of our bodies.
